Eclectic elegance is more than a design style—it’s a philosophy. It’s about creating spaces that reflect your individuality, blending old and new, bold and subtle, in a way that feels harmonious and deeply personal. For me, it’s the freedom to break the rules of traditional design, crafting interiors that are as unique and inspiring as the people who live in them.

Interior design is more than just arranging furniture or choosing colours—it’s about storytelling. Every space I design tells a story, blending elements of the past with modern sensibilities to create something entirely unique. For me, “eclectic elegance” is the perfect way to describe my approach: combining vintage charm, bold textures, and modern touches to craft interiors that are both stylish and deeply personal.

My journey into interior design started with a simple love for the concept of home. Growing up, I was always fascinated by how a room could shape our emotions—whether it offered comfort, inspiration, or a sense of belonging. This passion naturally led me to experiment with my own spaces, blending antiques with contemporary finds and layering rich colours with intricate patterns. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a career when friends and family started asking me to style their homes.

One of the biggest inspirations for my work is the idea of embracing individuality. I’m constantly drawn to objects and materials that carry a story—like a vintage chair with a worn-in patina or a boldly patterned fabric that sparks conversation. The key to achieving eclectic elegance is balance: pairing seemingly mismatched pieces in a way that feels cohesive and intentional. For example, I might combine a modern velvet sofa with an ornate antique mirror, tied together by a shared colour palette or complementary textures.

Designing unique spaces also means drawing inspiration from art and nature. Artists like William Morris and Anna Hayman have had a profound influence on my work, with their bold use of pattern and colour. Nature, too, offers endless inspiration—whether it’s the deep greens of a forest or the intricate lines of a leaf. These elements often find their way into my designs, creating a sense of harmony and connection.

For those looking to bring eclectic elegance into their own homes, my advice is simple: start with what you love. Whether it’s a cherished family heirloom or a piece of art that speaks to you, build your space around items that resonate personally. Don’t be afraid to mix styles—contrast is what gives a room character and depth.

At Raven Interior Design, every project is a journey of discovery. Together with our clients, we craft spaces that are as unique as the people who live in them. Ready to transform your home into a masterpiece of eclectic elegance? Let’s create something extraordinary together.
